In June 2003 Bryce Burnham and his family came to the Eagar-Springerville, Arizona area to work for Mr. Reuben Jewkes at Jewkes Mortuary. The following March 2004 Mr. Burnham and his wife, Sharon, purchased the Springerville and St. Johns Mortuary business and real estate from Mr. Jewkes. At this time the name was changed to Burnham-Jewkes Mortuary.

The following December 2004 Mr. Burnham leased a new facility in Eagar, with the intention to purchase it when the old facility in Springerville was sold.

Another name change occurred in October 2005 releasing the name of Jewkes with the new name being Burnham Mortuary. The Springerville facility was sold in December 2005 and the present facility on Main street in Eagar was purchased in January 2006. The St. Johns facility has remained the same, but has undergone extensive remodeling.

The Eagar office is staffed five days a week from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Thursday and 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Friday, with an hour break for lunch each day. The St. Johns facility is available by appointment only.

Our mortuary has been continuously serving the residents of Apache County and Western New Mexico since the late 1940’s when it first opened as Netz Mortuary in Springerville. Since the early 70's the business has been sold four times with a name change each time.
