Walter LaVerl Crosby

Walter LaVerl Crosby passed away peacefully, Monday, November 10, 2025 in Eagar, Arizona. He was born March 11, 1950 in Springerville, Arizona, the son of Melvin Schell Crosby and Martha Jo Pegues.

LaVerl was a devoted husband and the proud father of 7 children and 24 grandchildren with 1 miracle grandbaby on the way.

LaVerl lived a full and joyful life centered on faith, family and service; including serving in the Snowflake Arizona Temple with his wife for 9 years. He also served a full-time mission in Mexico for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a service mission in New York with his wife last summer. He deeply loved BYU sports, his country and above all his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Many in the community knew and loved him for his superb electrical skills, his generous heart and willingness to help others. A man of many passions; he found happiness in fishing, hard work, gardening, preparedness, water skiing and spending time with his family. He considered his greatest achievement to be raising 7 wonderful children. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work and love that will continue to inspire his family and all who were blessed to know him.

LaVerl is survived by his wife, Shelley Crosby, Eagar; sons, Mark (Holly) Crosby, Mesa; Chad (Luann) Crosby, Snowflake; Bret (Suzy) Crosby, Queen Creek; Reed (Natali) Crosby, Dallas, Texas; daughters, Lisa (Barry) Keime, Queen Creek; Kari (Kirk) Kinsey, Flagstaff; Tami (Ryne) Peters, Idaho Falls, Idaho; mother-in-law, Lillian Dawes, brothers, Dave Crosby, Rick Crosby, sister, J’net Isaacson and 24 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Martha Crosby, father-in-law, Don Dawes, nephew, Benjamin Crosby and uncle, Denny Johnson.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the services at the Eagar Cemetery.
