George Shawn Peña, 52, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 in Phoenix. He was born June 28, 1965 in Springerville, the son of George Romero Peña and Gladys Brown Peña.
Shawn passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends. He loved his children and nieces and nephews. Shawn was an avid sportsman. For the past several years he was on the Round Valley football coaching staff. He loved the sport and the boys he coached as well as the staff he coached with. He was loved by the children who came into Woodland Building Center, where he worked in contract sales and always had dum-dum suckers for them. Shawn was a great father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be missed but has provided us with a lifetime of memories and laughter. We will miss his quick wit and sense of humor.
Shawn is survived by his sons, Arturo Peña, Thatcher; Trace Peña, Show Low; Easton Peña, Show Low; step-son, Elder Blake Lofgreen, New Hampshire, Manchester Mission; step-daughters, Nicole (Zack) Rigby, Houston, Texas; Lexy Lofgreen, Show Low, step-grandchildren, Aven and Ella Rigby, Houston, Texas; mother, Gladys Peña, Eagar; brother, Stephen (Andrea) Peña, Eagar; sisters, Lana Hamblin, Springerville; and Coni (Gerald) Peterson, Springerville.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Peña.
A Viewing will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, Eagar. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center, with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral services at the Eagar Cemetery.
