Ruby Lucinda Leon Castro

Ruby Lucinda Leon Castro, 88, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at her home in Springerville. She was born May 7, 1932 in Tucson, the daughter of Jesus M. Leon and Mariana Frijo Leon.

Ruby was known to many of us as Mama Ruby or Nana Ruby. She was the youngest of 6 children and went on to have 8 children of her own and later would become mama to 12 other children. She was blessed to have 100 grandchildren, 212 great grandchildren and 60 great, great grandchildren.

She was a resident of Springerville since 1981. Ruby was a homemaker. Her passion was cooking, crocheting blankets, singing and playing her tambourine in church.

She will be missed by all who knew her and love her.

Ruby is survived by her sons, Manuel Otero, Daniel Otero, Leonel Castro, Louie Castro, Stevie Castro, Robert Castro, Rudy Castro, daughters, Rosie Lopez, Ida Diaz, Lucinda Ulibarri, Ruby Chapman, Esther Valdez, Sylvia Garcia, Julie Hernandez, Terry Barajas, Corina Saucedo, and Elaine Castro.

She was preceded in death by Manuel Quejada Otero, Louis Mario Castro, Leticia Castro Valdez, Margie Castro Valdez and Alfred Leon Otero.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Life in Christ Fellowship Church, 11 S Hamblin, Eagar, with a lunch following at 12:00 p.m. at Ramsey Park, 199 N Butler St. Eagar.
