Norma Lee Haddock Goodman

August 22, 1936 — February 18, 2023

On Saturday, February 18, 2023, long-time Eagar resident, Norma Lee Haddock Goodman passed quietly in the early hours of the morning at an assisted living facility in Provo, Utah where she had lived for several years.

Norma was born August 22, 1936 at the home of her Bigler grandparents in Central, Arizona. The oldest child of Loyal G. Haddock and Amy Emily Bigler, she was raised in Tucson, Arizona near Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

She met the love of her life, Lloyd Dale Goodman at her weekly M.I.A. (Mutual Improvement Association) meetings, where the Mormon “Fly-Boys” from the Air Base frequently came to meet young women of their faith. Almost a year after her graduation from Tucson High School, Norma and Dale were married in the Mesa Temple on April 15, 1955. They are the parents of seven children: sons, Steven Lloyd Goodman, Phoenix; Gregory Scott Goodman, Phoenix; Mark Loyal Goodman (deceased), Eric Dale Goodman, Eagar; Tracy Brent Goodman (deceased); daughters, Aleta Marie Goodman Breakwell, Provo, Utah; and Mari Lee Goodman Baumgarten, Grand Junction, Colorado.

Norma is survived by 5 children and her siblings: sisters, Venice Higginbotham, St. David; Ruth Christensen, Manteca, California; brothers, Ed Haddock, Citrus Heights, California; Jim Haddock, Indio, California; 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Dale Goodman, sons, Mark Loyal Goodman, Tracy Brent Goodman and 1 grandchild.

Norma held numerous callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; her best-loved being in Family History. Her children remember spending long days roaming the corridors of the LDS Stake Center in St. Johns, Arizona while Norma volunteered her time and knowledge helping others with their genealogy and compiling her own. She spent years indexing French, German and Latin birth, marriage and death records; she could read those ancient scripts like a pro!

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Amity building, located at 576 W. School Bus Road, Eagar, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the services at the Vernon Cemetery.
