Obituary

Myrland “Teddy” Jefferson Slade, 87, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026 in Eagar, Arizona. He was born December 5, 1938 in East Los Angeles, California, the son of Edwin Hamblin Slade and Viola Slade.

Teddy served our country and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had strong faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a true cowboy at heart; loving horses, cows, ranching and anything to do with being a cowboy. When he was a little boy he would go with his granddad, Jesse Slade, whom he truly loved dearly to the mountains where he learned to be a cowboy.

Teddy truly did it all; with the mindset to go all or nothing. He owned a trucking company, logging business, goat business, 5000 sheep, 1000 pigs, 1000 rabbits, operated heavy equipment, built roads and highways, owned a dairy farm and a Mexican food restaurant. Through it all he also owned horses, cattle and calves.

Teddy loved his children deeply always wanting the best for them and would always help them. He had a special relationship with each grandchild and made them feel that they were the number one special grandchild. He was truly one of a kind with not only his biological children and grandchildren but dad and grandpa to others that held a very special place in his heart.

Teddy had a personality that made everyone feel the love and humor he had. He had a love for his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that helped him have the faith he did. We were so blessed to have him for 87 years and will miss and love him deeply.

Teddy is survived by his sons, Mo Slade, Blanchard, Oklahoma; Arthur Slade, Lehi; David Brewer, Phoenix; daughters, Carey Slade, Mesa; Monique Garcia, Phoenix; Summer Hilliard, Eagar; brother, Carwin Slade, 18 grandchildren and 22 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandsons, Dalton Slade and Lucien Griffith.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center.
