Maria Elena "Mary" Pineda

Maria Elena “Mary” Pineda, was 67 years old at the time of her unexpected death. She was born in Brawley, California, May 10, 1956, the daughter of Alfonso Pineda, Sr. and Guadalupe Medina and was living in St. Johns, Arizona when she passed on Friday, October 27, 2023.

Mary was raised in Tolleson, Arizona and also resided at different times in her life in Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Avondale, Arizona.

Mary loved to travel and visit and spend time with her family. She loved to read and spend time with her animals; she loved life. She worked for Southwest Gas for many years, retiring in 2020 to enjoy her days with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Teresa “Teri” Griego Molina, Nogalas; Sarah Griego, Lake Havasu; Christy Griego, Phoenix; James “Sonny” Griego, St. Johns; Celedonio “Cel” Griego, Phoenix; brothers, Alfonso Pineda, Arturo Pineda, Salvador Pineda, sisters, Eleana “Pasa” Alonzo, Marina Pineda and was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, fiancé, James Monico Griego, parents, eldest brother, David Pineda and grandson, Victor “Junior” Molina Griego.

The services are open to all who loved Mary. Visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 512 North 93rd Ave., Avondale, AZ 85353, followed by Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the services at Holy Cross Cemetery, 9925 West Thomas Rd., Avondale, AZ 85392.

The family would like to extend an invitation for reception following the interment at Regina Hall located at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
