Maria Del Carmen "Carmela" Castillo

Maria Del Carmen “Carmela” Castillo, 65, passed away, Saturday, April 19, 2025 in Lakeside, Arizona. She was born October 10, 1959 in Ricardo Flores Magon, Mexico, the daughter of Jesus Jose Valenzuela and Carmen Au Delia Macias.

Carmela was the oldest of 10 children. She helped raise her brothers and sisters. Since an early age she worked to help her family.

On September 9, 1978 Carmela married the love of her life, Hector Manuel Castillo, Sr. In 1983 she left everything behind in Mexico to follow Hector to St. Johns, Arizona.

Carmela always worked hard for her family and friends, helping anyone in need. She enjoyed walking around St. Johns every day and visiting her friends and sisters-in-law. She always cared for everyone on their birthdays or any major event in everyone’s life.

Carmela is survived by her husband, Hector Manuel Castillo, Sr., children, Eloisa Castillo, Hector Manuel Castillo, Jr., Adam Castillo, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

A viewing will be held Friday, May 2, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Carmela’s home at 755 South 7th West, St. Johns. Rosary will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the services at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
