Lester Casoose, Sr., 90, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in Eagar. He was born February 12, 1933 in Peridot, Arizona, the son of Ralph Casoose and Marie Bailey.
Lester was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, brother and friend. He was always so proud of all the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his time as the Head Sawyer at the saw mill in Eagar. It allowed him to provide for his family to be raised here in Round Valley and build a home in the area that was known as Indian Village. He wasn’t known just as Lester, he was known by Grandpa Casoose to many.
Lester served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1955.
Lester is survived by his sons, Barry Casoose, Lakeside; James Casoose, Chandler; Keith Casoose, Chandler; Lester Casoose, Jr., Mesa; daughters, Carol Nez, Eagar; Margaret Cisco, Eagar; Patsy Dallas, Chandler; Catherine Sandoval, Chandler; brother, Aiden Casoose, San Francisco, California; sisters, Serena Pina, Cibecue; JoAnna Aragon, Kinnear, Wyoming; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, Springerville, with visitation one hour prior. A funeral service will also be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Bylas Lutheran Church. Interment will follow the services at Blackpoint Cemetery, Bylas.
