Kathy McCray Reidhead

Kathy McCray Reidhead, 85, passed away, Wednesday, May 21, 2025 in Lakeside, Arizona. She was born March 16, 1940 in St. Johns, Arizona, the daughter of Dexter Lee McCray and Euphemia Berry.

Kathy was a mom of 3 daughters, ShaeLynn, Shelly and Rhonda. She was the Postmaster in Nutrioso, Arizona for over 30 years. She loved her post office customers.

Kathy was a professional seamstress, making a lot of her daughter’s school clothes, suits for other friends and chaps for Neal, her husband. She loved singing with her twin sister, Kay and was a very good artist. She painted many pictures and entered them at the Apache County Fair in St. Johns where she took a blue ribbon on all of them.

Kathy was the proud owner of the Safire Restaurant for many years. She was always on the go and took many trips. If there was somewhere to go, she was the first one in the car. She loved going on family campouts and reunions. She belonged to the Eagar 1st Ward for over 55 years.

Kathy is survived by her daughters, ShaeLynn (Barry) Harris, Eagar; Shelly (Kelly) Milligan, Springerville; brother, Terry McCray, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lee, Quinton, Kelly, Deaton, W.G. “Babe”, Bill, Phillip, Douglas “Teed” McCray, sisters, Sibyl Plumb, Lorna Scarbrough, Colleen McCray, Anna Prentice, Correen Magee, Kay Leverton, husband, Earnest Neal Reidhead, daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Warren Francisco and grandson, Cameran B. Harris.

A viewing will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, Eagar. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the services at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
