Karen Raye Jaramillo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Raye Jaramillo, a beloved member of the Springerville, Arizona community. Karen passed away peacefully at the age of 72, Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Karen was born on March 3, 1951 in San Bernardino, California to her parents, John Edwin Looker and Margaret Hatfield Looker. She was the oldest of two children and was known for her amazing laugh and caring personality. Karen attended San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino, California.

Karen was a devoted wife to her husband of 42 years, Manuel “PeeWee” Jaramillo, a wonderful sister to John Looker, a loving mother to her two biological children, Alison and Adrienne as well as her step-children Gabriel, Jerry, Charlotte, Patricia, Johnathan and Timothy. She also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored and cherished. Karen spent over 35 years as a professional driver; first as a long-haul truck driver and then the past eight years as an elementary school bus driver in Springerville and Eagar. She was passionate about ensuring the safety and wellbeing of her young charges and was known for going above and beyond to ensure they felt loved and comfortable.

In her free time, Karen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, making and selling her handmade crafts and being the local Tupperware lady. She was also an active member of her church.

Karen will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her kind heart, gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and community will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 135 N Main Street, Eagar, Arizona, Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Round Valley Unified School District in honor of Karen's love and commitment to the children in the community.
