Justin Scott Phelps

Justin Scott Phelps, 58, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026 in Springerville, Arizona. He was born March 13, 1968 in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of John Charles Phelps and Pamela Jean Powers.

Justin was a talented athlete in high school. He took state in wrestling his senior year. He was awarded class favorite, Mr. Elk, Homecoming King and Vice President of the athletic club his senior year.

Justin graduated with his Doctorate in Psychology from Northern Arizona University. He worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 20 years. He worked all over the United States including Kentucky, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona and California. He enjoyed home improvement, fishing and hunting in his free time.

Justin is survived by his wife, Laura Phelps, Eagar; sons, Peyton (Audrey) Phelps, New Caney, Texas; Braden (Kaycee) Phelps, Grovetown, Georgia; daughters, Samantha (Jesse) Peterson, Safford; Jessica Phelps, Thatcher; Shania Phelps, Thatcher; Savanna Phelps, Tempe; parents, John Phelps and Pamela Phelps, brothers, Johnny (Sue) Phelps, Guy (Kristi) Phelps, sisters, Perri (Chris) Matthews, Carrie (Brandon) Crosby and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, John Phelps.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the services at the Eagar Cemetery.
