Julia Ann Midboe passed away, Friday, February 9, 2024 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law. A memorial service will be held, Friday, June 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Isle Evangelical Free Church.
Julia Ann Lueck, the daughter of Gustav and Anna Kurtz Lueck, was born on October 31, 1934 in Flora Township, Renville County, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm on the north edge of the Minnesota River Valley and received her education in the Middle Creek Country School. Julia “Julie” attended Middle Creek Evangelical United Brethren Church and had so many fond memories of growing up in this church. During the summer of her sophomore year, her Mom and Dad sold their farm and moved to town where she attended Redwood Falls High School. Julie was involved in various singing groups, basketball teams, typing and short hand classes.
After graduating from high school, Julie moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where she worked for the State of Minnesota and attended St. Paul Missionary Alliance Church in Minnesota. Here she served as a leader for Pioneer Girls. It was during this time that she met LoRene Barsness, who introduced Julie to her brother, Carold Midboe...whom she married on September 6, 1958. Two years later they had their son, Terry and three years after that, their daughter, Jody arrived. Julie served in their church as the VBS director, kitchen staff, choir director and also sang in the choir for many years. Julie’s gift was hospitality and she loved preparing meals, brunches and teas for so many people.
Julie worked in the Minneapolis School System for many years. After retiring, they moved up to Isle, Minnesota where they spent the remainder of their lives. Both Carold and Julie served in their church, enjoyed many meaningful relationships they had and offered hospitality to so many people.
Julie was a wonderful mom, grandma, great grandma and friend. She cherished and loved all her family members and friends.
Julie is survived by her children, Terry Midboe, Jody (Brad) Goodsell, grandchildren, Michael (Tyla) Midboe, Ben Siegel, Katie (John) Bengtson, Tyler (Ariel) Goodsell, Jacob (Margery) Goodsell, Caleb Goodsell, Natalie (David) Chimera, 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She will be missed.
We remember how Julie reminded us to start our day saying, “This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!”
