John "Tooter" Vincent Lewis

On Saturday, June 19, 2021, John “Tooter” Lewis, succumbed to his long-fought battle with heart disease.

“Tooter” lives on forever in the hearts of his wife of 35 years, Geraldine Lewis, St. Johns; sons, Michael (Holly) Lewis, Phoenix; Chris (Shirley) Lewis, St. Johns; and Clifton (Terriann) King, Surprise; daughter, Kendra (Clifton) Lewis, Phoenix; mother, JoNell Barnes, brother, Terry Lewis, sisters, Carol Lewis, Cheryl Mitchell, Peggy Knighten, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, with 1 on the way.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brandee Lynn Lewis and his son, David Charles Lewis.

“Tooter” loved being with family in the great outdoors fishing, camping or horseback riding. He enjoyed speed of all forms whether on the lake in his speedboat, building his truck to run on airplane fuel or racing cars. “Tooter” loved attending NASCAR races and Arizona Cardinals games. He worked as a pipe fitter and owner of his auto shop specializing in transmission repair.

“Tooter” was the life of the party and together with his wife spent many years helping with the San Juan fiesta.

“Tooter” exemplified strength and resilience like his favorite quote, “The devil whispered in my ear, ‘You’re not strong enough to withstand the storm,’ I whispered to the devil, “I am the storm.”

“Tooter” will be missed by those that called him friend, brother from another mother, papa, dad, son, brother and especially his wife of 35 years.

A viewing will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, St. Johns. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Johns, with visitation one hour prior.
