John Stephen Flanagan

John Stephen Flanagan, 73, passed away, Thursday, April 6, 2023 in Springerville. He was born May 10, 1949 in East Liverpool, Ohio, the son of Donald E. Flanagan and Betty Jane Justice.

John moved to Arizona at the age of 12 and lived in Phoenix.

John served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1973 and spent a tour in Vietnam. He worked on a farm and in construction until he moved to Alpine in 1987. There he worked as a seasonal fire fighter for the United States Forest Service until going to work for ADOT as a supervisor.

John was a kind and generous person, a lover of animals and a true friend to people who knew him. Those of us who knew him will miss him a great deal.

He met his love, “Bonnie” in 1992 and will join her and Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marjorie Bonnie Flanagan and a brother.
