James Ellsworth Decker, 87, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 13, 2026. Born in Elmira, New York, October 31, 1938 to Ellsworth Ward Decker and Grazia May Sherman Decker, Jim earned a business degree from John Brown University, where he met the love of his life, Arla Janelle Decker. They married in 1959 and shared 65 years together, raising five children.
Jim began his career with the family-owned Decker Construction Company before expanding his business interests to Triangle Steel in Ithaca, New York. In 1976 Jim and Janelle relocated to Cliff, New Mexico where he became a respected member of the Silver City business community through his land development work. They later returned to New York before retiring to Eagar, Arizona.
A devoted Christian, Jim found joy in serving his church. An accomplished pilot since age 17, he loved hunting, fishing, boating, horseback riding, traveling, the outdoors and his beloved dogs. Nothing brought him greater joy than being "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his children, Kelley (Hunter) White, Laurie Enloe, Jana Cafolla, Clay (Shirley) Decker, Paul Decker, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janelle, grandson, Justin White, parents and his brother, Randy Decker.
Jim will be remembered for his unwavering faith, adventurous spirit, quiet generosity and enduring love for his family.
