Gayle DeAnn Smith Condie

Gayle DeAnn Smith Condie, passed away, Saturday, August 21, 2021, while on hospice at the Beehive House in Eagar. She was born to Wendell Hyrum Smith and Wavel Keller Smith on August 29, 1944 in San Francisco, California. 

Gayle is survived by her husband, William Kay Condie, sons, Gene William (Heather Partridge) Condie, Clint Wendell (Stacy Krumel) Condie, 3 sisters and 12 grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her 2 year old son, Scottie and her parents.

Gayle graduated from Preston High School where she enjoyed performing with the Indianettes marching Corp. She was also a talented drummer. She attended college at Utah State University. She was a skilled stenographer and worked in the Attorney General’s office at the state Capitol in Salt Lake City, Utah. 

Gayle was a very caring mother who raised her children mainly in the town of Soda Springs, Idaho. She was very involved with family history callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and assisted many people with their genealogy endeavors. She enjoyed playing pinochle with her friends in Soda Springs. Gayle was very industrious; she ran her own T-shirt business for a time and worked in a video store renting movies back when VCR’s were popular. For many years Gayle was an EMT and would always arrive first when called out so she could be the one who got to drive the ambulance. The doctors would often ask her to stay and assist them with the patients after she arrived at the hospital. Gayle worked in the temple with her husband for a long time as a supervisor and was known for going out of her way to help the Hispanic temple workers who were struggling with the English language.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Springerville building, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Interment will follow the funeral services at the Eagar Cemetery.
