Evan Omer Bigelow

Evan Omer Bigelow, a long-time resident of Eagar, Arizona, passed away while attending the Snowflake Temple with dear friends, Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the age of 92.

Evan was born January 14, 1932 to David Omer Bigelow and Polly Estella Thompson in Eagar, Arizona in an old adobe home on the original David Bigelow property. Evan was the youngest of six siblings.

Evan married Laura Lylton Mann October 14, 1950 in Reserve, New Mexico and they were later sealed in the Arizona Temple on November 5, 1954. Evan and Laura were married 69 years and 8 months at the time of Laura’s passing.  

Evan was employed by El Paso Natural Gas Company for over 35 years as an Electrical and Instrumentation Techician and Consultant. He loved doing hard work especially outside and enjoyed gardening and actively worked to take care of his property right up to his passing.

Evan has always been involved with service and has been a faithful servant in many church callings to include service as a Bishop, Bishopric Counselor, Stake Clerk, High Councilor and Instructor in many capacities.

Evan and Laura also served two LDS missions together from 1988-1989 in the Jacksonville, Florida Mission allowing them to live in parts of Georgia as well. They served again from 1998-1999 in the Tulsa, Oklahoma Mission.

Evan was preceded in death by his parents, all his siblings, two grandsons, a son-in-law and his eternal companion, Laura. 

Evan is survived by his children, Evelyn Green, Benson, Arizona; Lloyd (Donna) Bigelow, Rexburg, Idaho; and Lisa Bigelow, Tucson, Arizona. Evan and Laura are the proud grandparents of nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Evan loved his family very much. 

A viewing will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, Eagar. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior. Dedication of the grave and interment will follow the funeral services at the Eagar Cemetery.
