Enid Irene Lang left this earthly realm and transitioned to heaven, Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born August 4, 1944 to Esther Rhea and Lloyd Smith in Silver City, New Mexico.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John Lang, daughters, Leslie Rhea Keene, Lakeside; Lois Eileen (Michael) Trenholm, La Jara, Colorado; granddaughters, Cydnee (David) Wardle, Florida; Nichole Stilwell, Texas; Naomi Trenholm, Florida; Olivia Trenholm, Colorado; and her great-grandchildren, Johnathan Wardle, Levi Wardle and Madeline Wardle, all of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Judy Rockwell and brother, Byron Smith.
Enid was the youngest of three children and grew up alongside her sister and brother in Silver City; where she enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She graduated from Silver High School in 1962. In 1966 she moved with her two daughters to Alpine, Arizona to work for the Job Corps and later settled in Springerville, Arizona where she married her loving husband, John Lang in 1968.
Enid worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in the Springerville Ranger District. Her career with the Forest Service spanned nearly 30 years, during which she formed many lifelong friendships.
Enid had a deep love for gardening; a passion she inherited from her mother. She maintained a beautiful yard and filled her home with thriving plants. She and John also enjoyed playing softball together in the co-ed league when they were younger. A faithful member of the Community Presbyterian Church for many years, Enid lovingly guided her daughters along a strong path of faith. She was also passionately involved in the White Mountain Historical Society, dedicating her time to preserving local history.
After retiring, Enid devoted even more time to her friends and the community who loved and adored her. Her family has been deeply blessed by the outpouring of love from all those, whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, Springerville, with a luncheon to follow.
