On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima, Elizabeth Rose Ketrina wrapped herself in the mantle of the Blessed Mother and stepped joyfully into the kingdom of Heaven at the age of 77.
Elizabeth was born February 6, 1949 in Saratoga Springs, New York. She was the second born and first daughter of 5 to Lewis Lester Haynes, II and Mary Elizabeth Benton Haynes.
Elizabeth, known by many as “Liz” or “Grandma” was raised in the Catholic faith, receiving sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. On June 30, 1968 she was united in holy matrimony to Meredith Irvin Ketring at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona. Together they faithfully raised their family in Phoenix, Aztec, New Mexico and Scappoose. Oregon until she moved to Eagar, Arizona in 1996 after her husband’s passing.
She was an active parishioner and Sacristan of St. Peter’s for over 20 years. Elizabeth lived a life rooted in faith, hope and charity. Many knew her by her curly hair, pickup truck and independent attitude. She volunteered frequently at St. Vincent de Paul’s in Springerville, Arizona.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Justin (Leslie) Ketring, Jessica (Duane) Williams, grandchildren, Meredith Byler, Jaithen Williams, Garret Williams, Talon Ketring, Trent Ketring, Matt Dragich, Alex Dragich, great-grandchildren, Joslynn Byler, Reyes Byler, Kendrick Williams, Tommy Dragich, Cal Dragich, Myles Dragich, Mattie Dragich and sibling, Lewis Lester Haynes, III.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Meredith Ketring, parents, Les and Mary Haynes, and siblings, Stephen Haynes, Marian Richmond and Michael Haynes.
May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God; rest in peace.
Family and friends are invited to the Vigil Service – Rosary on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Springerville, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be held at a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
In lieu of flowers, memorial Masses may be offered in her name or donations may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Springerville.
