Dorothy Louise Brooks

May 5, 1930 — November 18, 2021

Dorothy Louise Brooks, 91, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 in Springerville. She was born May 5, 1930 in Henryville, Indiana, the daughter of Henry and Thelma Brooks.

Dorothy was a dedicated mother to her three children and wife to her husband for many years. She was very devoted to worshiping her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and longed for the day when she would be able to join him in heaven. She is no longer suffering and now resting with her Lord and Savior.

Dorothy’s mother taught her how to crochet the chain stitch when she was young. She enjoyed being in school plays and sometimes she wore theatrical makeup. She was in orchestra and played the violin and piano.

In April 1948 Dorothy graduated from Roachdale High School. In the fall of 1950 she attended Minnesota Bible College. She met Howard one Friday evening at the restaurant where he mother worked in Roachdale. Howard and Dorothy were married in Parsonage of the Christian Church in Roachdale, Indiana on October 10, 1952. On July 24, 1953 they were blessed with a baby girl, Debra. On January 11, 1957 they were blessed with another baby girl, Teresa and on March 22, 1958 there were blessed with a son, Lyle. They moved to Phoenix on August7, 1966.

In 1981 after Dorothy’s children were married, she divorced Howard. She traveled with and visited her brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She had her last name legally changed to Brooks.

Dorothy lived with Lyle and his family for a brief time. She would attend church and would play the piano for church services. Dorothy would crochet and knit various items for her family for birthdays and holidays. She loved to paint and we were amazed how she could take the paint on her pallet and turn it into a picture on the canvas. She learned to paint watching Bob Ross on channel 8. She sang and played her piano with so much feeling and conviction which you could see on her face while playing. Dorothy also lived with her daughter, Debra in St. Johns.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Lyle Clark, Mesa; Debra Chavez, St. Johns; Teresa Beihl, Texas; brothers, Bud, Henry, Jr., sisters, Gladys, Welma, Julia and Linda, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Betty Thompson.
