Charles Thomas Gillespie

Charles Thomas Gillespie, 76, passed away, Monday, December 11, 2023 in Eagar, Arizona. He was born August 9, 1947 in McNary, Arizona, the son of Meryl Ray Gillespie and Marvine Greer.

Charles was a builder with a strong work ethic; a family man who loved all of his children and grandchildren; teacher of children and men, a practical joker of great charm and charisma who used the act of humor to lighten every situation. A man of unwavering steadfast faith in Christ and his central principle of forgiveness; a man who exemplified how, “When ye are in the service of your fellow being, ye are only in the service of your God.”

Charles is survived by his sons, Todd Gillespie, Eagar; Trent Gillespie, Chandler; Trevor Gillespie, Springerville; Carl Gillespie, Linden; daughter, Sheri Cahalan, San Tan Valley; step-children, Eddie Avila, St. Johns, Amy Avila, Boston, Massachusetts; sisters, Marilyn Tice, Texas; Karla Conant, St. Johns; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jerold Gillespie, Ronald Gillespie and granddaughter, Charli Jourdan.

A viewing will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Burnham Mortuary, Eagar, followed by a graveside service at 12:00 p.m. at the Vernon Cemetery.
