Barney "Marty" Eugene Minton, Jr.

Barney “Marty” Eugene Minton, Jr., 60, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in Eagar. He was born October 29, 1962 in Spokane, Washington, the son of Barney Eugene Minton and Joan Hewitt Driver.

Marty, as he was known by most of his friends, was a hard-working man with many talents. He was born into a musical family. His father, Barney Minton, Sr. was a well-known jazz guitar player who played with the Rat Pack in Las Vegas and with many other famous bands and musicians. Marty was a self-taught drummer who played in a number of bands including his own band, Heavy Red, which played in and around Las Vegas for over eight years.

Marty loved everything Chevy but could work on any engine, building many racing engines; including one he built for a 1948 Ford truck that he used to run at the speedway in Las Vegas, doing very well.

He was most proud of his career as a teamster, driving truck for 34 years with a perfect record. He drove truck in Las Vegas and over the road and finally in Arizona after moving there in 2019 with his wife; bringing her home to her family. His favorite part of trucking was hauling heavy equipment. He was forced to retire when he became ill at the beginning of 2021. He fought a long and difficult battle, finally succumbing to his health issues.

Marty leaves behind his wife, Melody Minton, Eagar; son, Kyle Minton, Jefferson City, Tennessee; daughter, Danielle Minton Messina, Henderson, Nevada; step-children, Montana Beneitone, Dean Walker, Tonya Cluff, all of Arizona; brother, Robert Harding, Jr., sister, Joni Minton and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Tracy Minton.
