Aurora Yvonne Hackbarth Mathews

Aurora Yvonne Hackbarth Mathews, 72, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 in Springerville. She was born January 2, 1949 in El Cajon, California, the daughter of James W. Hackbarth and Aurora Yvonne Sanchez.

Aurora was an artist. After completing her career in title insurance, she devoted her time to beadwork, sewing, dolls and art. Her work has been published in multiple books and magazines. She took pride in her family and was so proud to be a loving mom, grandma, sister, wife, daughter and aunt. Most of all, she was proud to be a child of God.

Aurora is survived by her daughters, Michele Ulibarri, Show Low; Rene Haley, Springerville; step-children, Suzanne Schwarz, Davette Mathews, Bobby Mathews, brother, James Hackbarth, sister, Yolanda Olea, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David Mathews and sister, Linda Puryear.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns Stake Center, followed by a luncheon for family and friends.
