Alice Lynn Traver

November 19, 1950 — March 2, 2024

St. Johns

Alice Lynn Traver has been taken home to that God who gave her life on the evening of Saturday, March 2, 2024. She passed in the presence of her loving husband, children and grandchildren, echoing and receiving sentiments of love, wisdom and comfort.

Alice was born in Globe, Arizona on November 19, 1950 to loving parents, Bobby Keith Murray and Mary Jo McFall. She grew up in Globe with her brother, Keith where she had the honor of attending and graduating from Globe High School in 1968. From there she attended college at Northern Arizona University where she met the love of her life, Wallace John Traver. “You’re not leaving, are you?” she asked him as he was about to leave the dance where they met. In their courtship they found the gospel of Jesus Christ together and she was baptized on Valentine’s Day in 1970 into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On May 31st of that year, John and Alice were married. A year and a half later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Together they have six remarkable children they raised in St. Johns, Arizona.

Alice was a remarkably genuine and true person. She cared for her children with a unique love, marked by nurturing their confidence, cultivating their talents and sharing her presence in full measure whenever needed. Whether it was sending a pair of cowboy boots to her boy on his mission or being the loudest voice in the gym during all her kids’ and grandkids’ games and performances; she was there to see them built into what they were intended to be.

Alice never knew a stranger. Friends, family and strangers were drawn from across the neighborhood to her home-cooked meals, her unmatched ability to teach and share the gospel in Sunday School and her strong character. In times of trial, people remember a woman who came into their homes to feed, hold, clothe and comfort those who stood in need. People remember a woman of grit, truth and unshakable faith.

She is gone from this earthly realm, but never forgotten by those who survive her; her husband, Wallace John Traver, St. Johns; brother, Keith Edward Murray, Globe; sons, Bobbie Traver, Mesa; Johnathan Traver, Queen Creek; Peter Traver, West Jordan, Utah; Neil Traver, Snowflake; daughters, Mary Tanner, Cottonwood; Jo Ella Pratt, St. Johns; and 16 sweet grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Until we meet again, for we know we shall. We rejoice in the knowledge that she has gone home to be with her parents, family and friends who went before. Having fought the good fight, having finished her course, having kept the faith; she has gone on to help prepare a place.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior.
